COVID-19 UPDATE

We are all dealing with an evolving situation which is changing daily.  Gordon Macs is finding ways of maintaining supply to while minimising contact with you and your employees for months ahead.

Phone & Collect

  • To minimise your time in contact with our staff, we prefer you to call your local store or your sales rep to order any items you need.
  • While you're on the phone we'll confirm the products are in stock and confirm a time when items can be collected (normally within 30-60 mins), and where to collect (e.g. from the stores areas, or the counter)
  • Customers can sign a pick-up book or a copy of the picking slip to confirm receipt.

Counter Sales

  • We will maintain counter sales but are ensuring adequate distance is maintained between our own staff staff and our customers
  • We'll be minimising the number of customers in some smaller counter areas and may ask customers to wait outside until there is space (e.g. one-in, one-out)
  • Customers are not permitted in any other areas of our stores
  • We prefer account and cashless transactions only
Deliveries
  • Our store deliveries will continue; simply phone our store or rep for the requested products.  At drop off, we'll minimise customer interaction but will require a customer receipt via signature or photo.
Stock
  • We continue to have strong stocks of day-to-day products and are managing stock ordering in line with extended supplier leadtimes
  • Some suppliers are advising of supply issues, we'll work with you as these arise to minimise impact to your business
  • We will continue to prioritise stock for customers who continue to support Gordon Macs
Staff Procedures
  • Our staff have been briefed on how to maintain 'social distance' at work and socially, reaffirmed hand washing procedures, and have hand steriliser at each sales counter.
  • We will conduct customer meetings via phone or facetime
  • Staff with flu-like symptoms have been asked to self-isolate at home
  • These actions are to minimise any risks to both our staff and customers

SUPPLER PRICE INCREASES

Several suppliers have advised mid-month price rises, with others advising April or May increases.  Most say the increases are due to the fall in the $A against the $US.  The increase varies across suppliers with some increasing by 5% with others up to 15%.

These include:
Mid-March :: ABB, Prysmian, Nexans Olex & Electra Cables
April 2020 :: CLA Lighting, Martec,  M-Elec, Ledvance, SAL (Sunny)
May 2020 :: Clipsal/Schneider, Evolt, GSME Trader

For up-to-date information, please speak to your rep, or follow us on instagram or Facebook (see links below).

Thanks for your ongoing support during these changing times.

Kind regards

Scott van Eck
General Manager
